Pottery Glazing Event at SICA on August 2
Experience the Art of Pottery Glazing at SICA's Upcoming Event |
Join the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts for a Hands-On Pottery Glazing Workshop |
The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts (SICA) is inviting the community to a unique pottery glazing event this Saturday, August 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to glaze ceramic pieces crafted by SICA's talented artists.
This hands-on experience will demonstrate how a chalk-like liquid transforms into a smooth, glass-like surface with vibrant colors after being fired in a high-temperature kiln.
The firing process involves chemical reactions that fuse the glaze to the clay body, resulting in a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.
The event is open to all skill levels, making it an excellent opportunity for both beginners and seasoned artists to explore the art of pottery glazing.
The cost to attend is $30 for guests and $20 for SICA members.
All materials will be provided, and participants will be able to take home their finished pieces after the firing process is complete.
In addition to this event, the Jackson County Public Library is offering free programs throughout August.
Families with children can enjoy the End of Summer Escape/Bubblefest on August 2 at Shields Park, while teens can participate in a Water Balloon Bash on August 3 outside the Seymour Library.
For more information on these programs, visit the library's website or call 812-522-3412.
Don't miss this chance to engage with the local arts community and discover the joy of pottery glazing at SICA's upcoming event.
Whether you're looking to try something new or deepen your existing skills, this workshop offers a welcoming environment to explore your creativity. |
